Ways to use a white screen
Cleaning your screen
A flat white field makes dust and smudges visible under an even wash of light — clean, then check again to confirm they're gone.
Finding dead or stuck pixels
Cycle through white, black and the primary colours with the dead pixel test to catch a pixel that never changes, or one lit the wrong colour.
An improvised light
Full brightness white is a decent stand-in fill light for a video call in a dim room, or a quick product photo.
Checking uniformity
A plain white field exposes uneven brightness or a warm/cool tint in one corner that's invisible behind normal interface chrome.
Reading in low light
A bright white or warm-white screen at close range works as a basic reading light when nothing else is at hand.

Troubleshooting
The screen doesn't look completely white — it's warm or grey-ish.+
This is almost always a device setting, not the tool. Check for True Tone (Mac/iPhone), Night Light / Night Shift (Windows/Mac/iOS/Android), or a blue-light filter app — all shift white warmer on purpose. See the full guide on warm-tinted screens below.
The brightness slider doesn't make my screen physically brighter.+
It can't — no website can raise your display's hardware backlight. The slider applies a visual dimming overlay in the browser, which can only make the surface appear darker than your device's current brightness, never brighter.
Fullscreen doesn't fill the entire screen.+
On mobile, check that no split-screen or multitasking mode is active. On desktop with multiple monitors, drag the browser window to the display you want filled before clicking Go fullscreen — it only fills whichever screen the window is currently on.
The colour looks slightly different from what I expected.+
Browsers render colour through your OS's colour management, which can shift hex values slightly depending on your display's colour profile. For subpixel testing this doesn't matter; for anything requiring precise colour accuracy, this tool isn't a calibration instrument.

Can a white screen fix a dead or stuck pixel?+
No. It makes defects visible against a flat field — it doesn't repair the panel. Stuck pixels sometimes recover on their own or after cycling colours; dead pixels never do.
Is it safe to leave a white screen on for a long time?+
For LCD displays, yes. For OLED, a static bright image held for very long periods can contribute to uneven wear over time, the same as any static bright content — short test or cleaning sessions aren't a meaningful risk.
